Default Z06 Windsheild Replacment

Just checking to see who has had their windshields replaced on their Z06? Mine is getting replaced sometime this week. They are going to replace the top, bottom, and two side moldings as well. I've just heard some horror stories about the glass company not being able to get the two side moldings to seal properly and people having water leak issues. Has anyone ran into this problem?

Make sure you are getting the OEM windshield for the Z06 = thinner / lighter than the standard coupe / vert. windshield. A lot of people get taken and sold the wrong / thicker windshield = HEAVIER than stock Z06.

Also, if you have HUD make sure your replacement windshield has the reflective coating.

Isn't it something like a 1.5lb difference? If he's paying out of pocket, it wouldn't make sense to get the thinner glass for such a minute difference.

Insurance is paying for it. I know for sure its going to have the HUD reflective in it. I gave them my VIN so hopefully they order the Z06 glass.

I remember reading something like that the OEM manufacture only produces the thinner model these days. If insurance is covering the bill, you might as well insist they get the right one. Should say "4.6mm" (or something like that) on the window label.

Ya I've actually read that they may only produce the thinner ones now. I checked the glass that is currently on my car and this is what it shows. Maybe its already been replaced at some point.

Mine was replaced 3 weeks ago. Install went great. No leaks and car has been through some heavy rain and a couple of track days. Some companies do it right.

Do you know if they replaced the reveal moldings on the side or reuse them?

Had mine replaced 2 yrs ago.It's a Pilkington.No leak/fit problems.

Only thing bad about the thinner glass, they seem to chip easier than other windshields...but thats just my opinion.

I’m almost positive that my windshield was replaced by the previous owner though he didn’t mention it to me. Looking at the different stamp can I assume that my windshield is the non Z06 model?

The quote I got was $735 for the glass alone. I'm not sure if this is the Z06 glass or not but I know it has the HUD tint in the glass.

That price almost has to be for the ins. co. My TL had one replaced and it was $600 for the ins. co but if I were to have paid out of pocket it would have been about $260.

I actually got that invoice before I told them my insurance company was paying for it. I'm not sure if you are aware but the glass for the HUD is much more expensive than the non HUD cars.
