actuators
I've got the GM service manuals but the pics don't show much. I want to know the layout of the actuator in regards to the air vent it blows out. In other words I was wondering if you could take something like a snake and run it in thru the air vent and reach the stuck actuator and possibly break it loose tapping on it?

The common failure in the actuators is broken nylon gears; not them getting stuck. Though sometimes if I played with the temp dial enough I could get some heat/cold difference, but it won't be solved by tapping the actuator.
I pulled my dash to replace both sides and it was much easier. Not sure you can even get to the pass. side without pulling the dash. It is sitting sideways and bolted to the pass. side of the center air box with two bolts.
