Default How to correct RDCM and LDCM codes

Hi everyone!

I have been having issues with my 98 Vert not starting so I followed the advice in another thread and pulled the codes from the DIC. One set of codes that came up for both Doors ( LDCM and RDCM) was Battery 1 and 2 fault. What does this mean and how do I correct them?

I agree. Battery needs to be looked at in the engine bay or the connections from it to fuse box right there. The codes you saw for the door control modules simply say the main battery for the car is low.

Thanks, I appreciate your imput. I replaced the battery about 6 months ago with a brand new Die Hard, so I am surprised that you are mentioning it could be a battery problem. Now, I thought that if a code had an "H" it was a history code. I've cleared all the codes and attempted to restart the car. It threw the P1631 H C code only.

Ok...here is a list of all the codes I received prior to clearing them

P1571 H - ASR Desired Torque
P1631 H C Theft Deterrent Password Incorrect

TCS
C1277 H - Requested Torque Signal CKT malfunction

BCM
B2721 H - Pass Key Detection Circuit

IPC - none

HVAC
B0363 H
B0367 H - Right and left actuator feedback open

LDCM
B2282 H - Battery #1 Fault
B2284 H - Battery #2 Fault
B2262 H - Horizontal Position Sensor Fit

RDCM
B2283 H - Battery #1 Fault
B2285 H - Battery #2 Fault

I really appreciate your help. I'm worried I am going to go somewhere and not be able to start the car at all. Let alone the fact that it is throwing codes at all...

Clear the codes and see what comes back. Be sure to check the battery cables at the starter solenoid as well since this is where the alternator ties into the battery. Do not forget that its electrically hot there.

Excuse me while I hijack this thread for a minute. 8VETTE7, you provide some of the most useful information on this forum. There are others (Dee Gee and Bill Curlee come to mind and I tip my hat to them as well). It seems that whenever someone is having serious problems you respond with very knowledgeable and helpful responses. I just wanted to say thank you.

Try another key or clean the pellet on the current key with the eraser on a pencil and then wipe clean and/or use an aerosol contact cleaner in the ignition cylinder to clean the fine wire that reads the pellet on the key. Spray into the cylinder and then insert and remove the key 10 or 12 times wiping the key clean with a lint free cloth between insertions. Repeat if needed.

The P1521 and C1277 have nothing to do with the nostart. They could be the result of a bad battery or ground problems or a bad EBCM. Could even be from a ignition switch (different from the ignition cylinder) that needs service.

Here is some info on diagnosing removing and repairing the ignition cylinder:

As others stated, don't fret over the LDCM/RDCM faults. You can simply replace/jump start your battery and those faults will show up in your history. Looks like 8VETTE7 gave you the info you're looking for
