Holy crap guys... I was driving to the store a few days ago and all of a sudden the gauges went out on me- the whole dash. I started to freak out then i saw that the car was still running and my radio was on. A cop passed me and I thought to myself that i had no idea how fast i was moving but i thought I would make the HUD brighter- it was on and said check gages (how do you spell gauges/gages?).

I got to the store and turned off the car... then I turned the key to acc- DIC said High Voltage... I then went into the store and came back out- the car started up, all gauges worked fine... I decided to watch the battery and chose that option- it was running at 14 to 14.4 on the way home (about 3 miles). I stopped at my moms house and then drove to mine which is about 1/4 mile away... no other issues just a reading of a bit over 14. I believe that a normal reading for me is about 13.2 or so. Not sure how high it went to before the gauges decided to go out.

I have kept the car parked since- it really scared me... my husband thinks its because i dont drive it much (like once every two weeks- we always take his car when we go out), plus i dont really go farther than maybe a 10 minute drive if i do take it out. Most times its to my moms house or the store which is about 5 mins.

I have a 6 speed if that makes any difference. I googled this issue and found one or two topics.

 

Check your battery, battery terminals, and tightness of the cables. If all that is good, another problem may be the alternator.
