I have spent most of my spare time working on my 67 Chevelle SS convertible, and most recently my 66 442 Track Pak tri-power. Both cars are numbers matching. No paperwork on the SS but full documentation on the 442.
Very nice. Would like to hear more about these cars and see some pics too.
You need to hit the "Aluminum frame holding the solenoid with a small ball peen hammer", this was the only way for me to unlock my 99 C5 as well (locked in my garage, better here than on the road). I would recommend you install the LMC5 Kit for your problem. This kit fixes it at the BCM and not at the Steering Wheel, and it also fixes the fuel cut off as well. Lots of posting on this major issue with certain C5s... Good Luck..

Use some arm force when you use the procedure. Sometimes you have to try MORE than once but it usually unlocks the column....
BINGO this works.....when it says ARM pressure we had two beefy guys turning/cranking on the steering wheel.....and then it popped and life was good again.. thks for posting the instructions, bob
