K&N Filter
I just purchased a 2008 Z06, 6700 miles. I am interested in replacing the air filter element with a K&N kit #63-3060. I am told and have researched it enough that it is worth the money as it delivers HP to the rear wheels. My question is: Would I have to re-calibrate (reprogram) the ECU due to the severe change of air coming in freely as opposed to stock unit sucking air through a straw? And also, I have been warned that the oils used on the K&N filters (orange in color) may get sucked up through the intake and land on the MAS (Air Flow Sensor) and create a problem? If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it. Thank you. FNunez.

Thanks for the input, I didnt think that it would require a reprogram but better safe than sorry, I just thought some one in here has done the K&N box and may have pros and cons. Again, thanks. FNunez

I bought my Z06 with one of those two-cone filters and kept triggering lean codes at low speed. Got rid of it and installed the stock airbox with a new k&n filter; no more codes and the car runs strong.
