Default About to be fun stuff time

With time and money short these days for some of us our loved Vettes are simply a step at a time. I love working on my car but the what needs to be done vs what I want to do are two different things. So now after two years of ownership with new fluids, cleaning grounds, chasing squeaks, fixing the dreaded traction control, blah blah blah, I'm down to the trashed factory end links. After that what? Go fast goodies? Audio? Interior? Wheels? I'm excited to be at the point where dependability is a smaller issue than doing stuff that makes the car "mine" and not like every other 01 vert. I'll shut up now.

I've done a number of mods, one that gives me the most was the stereo and speaker replacement. I have Bluetooth for my phone calls and I have my iPod in the console for my music. No matter what I've got to have my music.

So many mod alternatives to consider! Then you can always re-mod the shifter, cat-backs and air box as have done. Do it a step at a time and enjoy every one!

Have fun with the next evoloution of you ride!

Metal end links are on my to do list also. I've doing things along and have really enjoyed the progress. The biggest thing I've done was replacing the A/C comp., accum., and while doing that went a head and replaced the water pump and tstat. The next biggest thing done to date was relocating the oil sensor down on the side of the block with the oil temp. sensor.
I'm still lovin' my vette.

I must admit that my Z only had 16k miles on it when I got it last Oct. so it didn't need much fixing. Since I know I will never 'outdrive' the abilities of this car, I do more personalizing with interior and other cosmetic changes. I also felt blind behind the standard headlights and switched to HID and fogs. I have a friend with a beautiful black baby like mine with a gorgeous silver/white stripe on the hood, but I don't have the guts to do it!!

Well what are you interested in more? Power and performance? Or customizing and personality? Most of us want both to a certain degree, but as you said, for those of us that aren't rich, is a piece by piece project. For someone like me, the power always takes precedence. If its a garage queen and you are more of a calm cruiser type, Id focus on cosmetics and audio. If you like to show those modified F-bodys and mustangs whats up, start increasing the power. I always put the bite in my cars before the bark. So don't give it a raced out look before having the power to back it up.

So far all I have done to mine is cosmetic mods - I still have a GMPP warranty until November of this year. After that, I may go for more performance mods. As to what you should do - that really depends on what you want the car to be - faster than stock or personalize the looks to suit your taste.

I only plan on some light appearance mods. I don't want to deviate too far from the 50th Anniversary, might black out the reverse lights with a black plate frame, black the center stoplight. (The BSM's gotta go!)

Plenty of power for me but I'm planning on some firmer shifts for the A4 and lowering the fan temp. settings. Already got GHL Bullets. Probably a wind restrictor of some kind soon, we only get a few months in the year for much top down action in western Oregon.

Already have a Dennis bezel with my old Avic-D3. Dennis rocks!! And I have a Vararam & Corsa Pace Cars. Those were done early but like I said most of what I've done is things I think a 10+ year old car needs. Now that she seems healthy & happy it's time for some toys. I'm thinking hard about replacing the factory polished thin spokes but my V12 tires only have a couple K miles. Second choice is a sway bar & shock upgrade from Gene.
