C5 Glove Box Lock
My glove box lock shut on me when I went to shut the glove box door today after going to N.J. Inspection. I was putting my registration back inside and the lock must of caught on my Owners Manual packet and closed the lock and now the Glove Box won't shut. Tried to free it with the key in the lock when I got home but to no avail. Had a similar problem with older GM vehicles years ago and was able to fix the problem. Just thought I would check here to see if there was anything I could do before having no choice but to take the lock apart with the 2 screws provided on the inside of the Glove Box door. Hoping to get a quick answer here being my glove box light is staying lit although I have my battery tender hooked up at the moment. I will probably need to disconnect one end of the battery until fixed. Must be a latch inside that needs to be sprung I would guess as it was with older GM vehicle locks.

Problem solved. Went back out to take a look after having a late lunch and fixed the problem. How dumb of me. With the key inside the lock just a liftup on the glove box door plastic latch freed the lock out of the closed position. Guess I haven't spent enough time with my C5 to get to know it a little better over the last 2 years I have owned it.
