Don't give up, I looked over a year before I found my 2000 Coupe, 6-speed. Just what I wanted 71000 miles unmolested car second owner in Pristine Condition. You read enough you can talk yourself out of any car, Just find one you like and enjoy it.
BTW mine was way less than $14500
I was surprised at how clean mine was when I bought it. 90% of corvettes are VERY well taken care of, but some are not. Just keep looking, there are plenty of steals on the market.
If you're looking for a fun car I recommend a convertible. They're a little more expensive, but really a blast IMO. Corvettes were designed as a convertible from an engineering standpoint, not an afterthought like a lot of cars. Really solid.
Don't be disappointed, once you find one you like you'll fall in love like all of us!
It's hard - I know. You finally make up your mind to get one and you want instant gratification. But like most worthwhile things you should wait for the right time. The more you look and research the better buyer you become.
Once I decided which model/year/options I wanted it was probably a year or more before i found a good one. I did find some 'decent' cars but ended up spending quite a bit more for a 'excellent' copy. To me it was well worth it, a guy who really takes care of his car is probably not trying to hide anything. If it broke - it got fixed right away.
Wait for the right one - you'll be glad you did!
