Default I am so stupid

Ok drove the vette to work Wednesday and came out after work and thought this is a perfect day to have to top out. Well had drivers door open and took sun shield out and then pulled the top out. Noticed that the passenger side was hard to get out but pulled it out anyway and then noticed I had not ran the windows down. Looked at top and damn tour weather strip, looked at car and yep tour the weather strip. After being so damn careful every time I took the top in and out and keeping the weather stripping lubed it only took one lasp in thought to mess up. I think I fixed it with some expoxy and black RTV but time will tell. Still kicking myself

Sounds like it was a short tour at least and not like a huge world tour.

Accidents happen. Sorry about the weatherstripping but at least it wasn't that you became a member of the flying roof club.

Glad I'm not the only "Old stoner" out there. Sometimes people do stupid things. Weather stirpping costs a bunch. Good luck with the repairs.

Sorry to hear about that. Good luck with the weatherstripping you 'TORE'.
Tear, tore, torn, tearing; pull apart by force, lacerate, distress.
Tour; lengthy trip or journey, set period of service, drive around.

If you are able to pretty much match up where it tore off from, go to Home Depot and get a small tube of Locktite 'Stik'n Seal Outdoor adhesive and just use a little bit on the torn piece and put a light amount on the stationary piece of weatherstripping and just hold it in place for a minute and you'll never have a problem with that weatherstripping again. Stuf is the toughest adhesive I've ever found, winter or other harsh weather and gasoline & oil resistant. But be careful, cause once the two pieces contact each other it like their welded together.

Happens to the best of us. I had a sickening week myself, worse than you. Don't stress. I did the same thing when I got mine, mirror got some small chips in it and I literally could not sleep the night it happened. Not worth letting the car own you.

What is a "lasp" ? I know what a lapse is. I always heard that if you can't spell it, don't use it. LOL

I was also at work one day and i thought 'this is a great day to drive with the top off' so i proceeded to place my laptop leather bag next to the passenger rear tire, remove the top and stow it in the back. i had just shut the hatch when a co-worker stopped to comment on how good the vette is looking. blah blah blah goes 5 minutes and i hop in the car to leave. as i backed out i noticed a thump under the passenger side front wheel. sure enough, i had run over my computer.

pretty stupid. i got out and checked it out. the bag had a scuff mark clearly across the middle of the bag. i opened it up to find no damage to the contents. cd cases were unbroken, laptop not cracked and works like new. i couldn't believe it. the funny thing was as i set the bag down i thought "this is probably a bad idea to leave it here" but i still did it anyway.
