So I get back home from work in this 97 degree weather. I pull up the e-brake and leave the stick in neutral with the engine running so I can put up my windows after I put the targa back on. Pop the hatch walk back and lean in... The car starts to roll down my driveway. SH*T! I reach in the back hatch and put all my weight on it, pulling back so it doesn't slam in to the trailer hitch of my F-150. I get it to stop but when I let go it wants to roll more. With neighbors watching I work my way around the car and jump in the drives seat planning to pounce on the brake. I land on the gas rev up my borlas and then manage to slam the brake. I ended up about 8 inches from my truck. Thank God I didn’t smash in my front end. Off to the shop to get that e-brake looked at.
Good thing it was only damage to your ego..!
My e-brake sucks too. I've just not had a real oppertunity to fix it yet.
I bet your neighbours had a hoot watching you!
If I was your neighbour I would have run out to help!

didnt we just have a thread where people were talking about parking in gear or not and a lot of people say that they never leave it in gear when they park. this is why I am either in 1st or reverse depending on which way the nose is pointed.
With luck like that, buy a lotto ticket and head to Vegas!!! Glad to hear both you and the car are alright; I too always park in gear since I seriously doubt the e-brake would do anything.
I learned my lesson about this 20 years ago, my car did the same thing but ended up knocking the blocks out from under a boat trailer, the trailer ended up landing on my hood and was stopped by the back of the drivers seat.
It was nothing nice believe me.
Glad you were lucky enough to stop yours.
I'm sorry for what you went through, but I was seeing this whole thing play out in my head as I was reading your post and it was funny as hell. I could feel your panic, as I would have felt the same way. Glad nothing but your pride was hurt and we can laugh about it now.
I remeber one time I was in a parking garage and noticed this nice Roush Mustang parked a few spaces down from me...When I came out it had rolled in to the middle of the road and the security guy was directing traffic around the car.
