I removed my body side mouldings on my 2002 vert. I was able to get the 2 sided tape off and I cleaned the area with WD40. I believe that all the adhesive is off but you can still see fine lines where the tape was. I think it probably is hard water deposits. Can anyone give me an idea what the best way is to remedy this? Products wise? Thanks.
I would get a container of Nu-Finish : "Scratch Doctor" It is Base coat/Clear coat safe and I have found it to be an excellent scratch of dis-coloration remover.
If you have a polisher, use it!
If it was me, I'd be using a PC 7424 and probably Meguiar's #205 pro polish. Should fix it right up.

Polisher set to very lightly cut, using a very mild polishing compound. I would consult a reputable paint shop for their suggestions on the proper product to use.

Good luck
JFYI
its virtually impossible to burn the paint on a car with a porter cable 7424 dual action (or most/all dual actions really), especially a C5 with their notoriously hard clear coat. It's not a rotary

You can do this by hand since it is a small area. Start with a good combination polish and wax like Meguiars or equal. You should not need to go with anything stronger, at least not to start. Good luck. If you paint is faded however, you may not get a match and polish will not fix it.
