I'm getting ready to sell my '01 vert. and want to run a Carfax report to make sure there are no surprises.
Does anyone know of any discount codes or am I stuck paying the $34.99?

My wife tells me that if you Google search coupons, with the manufacturer's name, if anything is available, it will show.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Did you run a Carfax prior to buying it? Have you had any accidents or major repair issues since you have owned it?
If you answer NO to the first question then it is a little late to worry about it, and if you answer YES or No to the second question, you don't have to worry about surprises, because you already know what that report will (or maybe) show.
While I agree with the questionable validity of the CARFAX report, as a seller the OP is being prudent to pull his own report. At least that way if a potential buyer shows up with one, it will eliminate any surprises.

Luck favors the prepared.
Not to mention using it as a selling point. Dealers are always advertising "Clean Carfax" I agree they have limited value but some buyers evidently live by them. You know what PT Barnum said.
Most car dealers run carfaxes on trade-in cars to protect themselves. If there's something serious, they'll show you it. Depends on what your time is worth to you sitting down at a dealership, though.

A Carfax is not gospel, but it has information that can be damaging to a sale. I kinda think people who trash carfax but depend solely on a test drive aren't seeing the whole picture.
I found out several things about the vettes I've owned by getting one. As an example: I verified the radiator had been flushed by the PO within the last 6 months.
I found out on my C4 had at one time failed an emissions test. I found out my FRC was owned by a dealer and I found out my STS was a fleet vehicle (rental). There were other things I found out as well.

Also, you may want to purchase an autocheck score which basically contains the same info and costs only 9.99 .
A CARFAX is not a guarantee of anything. However, it can tell you a lot of things about any car you are looking at. If you aren't up against a professional scam artist, it can make the difference between deciding to move on or exploring a car further.
If the CARFAX is clean, that ONLY means the car is worthy of further examination by you and your personal qualified Vette mechanic.
In this day and age, buying a used vehicle without a CARFAX Report is just asking for trouble, especially with respect to flood damage etc...

I used this and Autocheck when I bought mine. Small change for insurance!

I did a CARFAX and an AUTOCHECK on a highly customized ZO6 convertible conversion early last year. Turned out there was no car. It was a stolen VIN scam. I was flying to Detroit to check the car and probably buy it when the CARFAX came in pointing out the car was owned by someone else in Texas.
No telling what was in store for me had I actually gone to Detroit. So, yeah, CARFAX type reports are more than invaluable. They might even save your life in addition to your bank account.
