Default A few questions.

Sorry about the noob ?'s, but im looking to purchase a c5z around November. I keep seeing comments about a weak bottom end on the ls6 engine. Is this just caused by the rod bolts? Also I was wanting to make about 450-500 rwhp. To do that I'm going to do LT headers, cat back, intake, cam, and heads. That brings me to my next question regarding the heads, could I just have the stock ones worked over, or would just new ones like AFR or TF heads be a better bet?

Stock heads could be ported but you will have more trouble reaching your goals i would think than running say a AFR 210cc head. Either way if your looking for around the 450+ range w/ heads/cam then I'd recommend milling the head around 59-61cc's depending on your cam choose as this will lower the piston to valve clearance. With say a 224/228 600lift range 112-114 lsa should just be in the safe range milled to 60cc chambers and bring the compression ratio up quite a bit. If you do this in conjunction with say a ATI super dampener, Long tubes, and a CAI (plus small crap like fresh quality plugs/wires, tune up) with a good tune and on a accurate dyno you should see your goals (with the AFR 210's or equivalent). If you do though choose to go the ported LS6 head route be sure to not skip over the valve train and do valve springs, rockers, and hardened push rods.

If you are not planning to put boost through the engine I like the CNC'd 243 heads (stock on Z06) with a FAST 92/92 intake and a custom cam (picked out by whoever ports the heads/intake)

Or save all the work and money and put it into a supercharger kit. There is your 450hp with no other mods. Easily make over 500 with supporting mods. Good luck with your car search and keep us posted. Any other questions just post up. Most of these guys are here to help.

am able to get one. As far as boost goes I was also considering a sts kit twin turbo kit.

Weak bottom end? What? IIRC The LS6 can handle up to about 650RWHP that's plenty. LOL

Oh and it's possible to make 450RWHP on the stock heads.

Or you could just supercharge it and make 500+.

Okay, I was reading around and saw a few comment about how much the bottom end can hold so that just made me ask about that.
