Default antena for a 98 vert

does anyone know of a source for a shorty antena for a 98 vert?

all the shorty antenas I have seen say they will not work on my car...

or if anyone knows of a DIY mod or other solution that would be great too.

thanks in advance.

Only the convertible came with the power antenna. If you want a shorty, you'll have to change the base and the antenna cable connector is different. One possibility for you would be to lower the antenna and unplug the power wire so the antenna stays down. You will still get decent fm reception. Give it a try, it's free.

You can also put a toggle switch on the antenna and then can put it up or down as you want.

its not going up now, was not working when I got the car and the reception is so bad that I get almost no stations... but instead of fixing it and having the tall floppy version I was hoping for another solution.

I guess I could try to order a base and a wire connect from a Zo6 and mod itso Icould try a shorty on there....

thanks guys

Mine was the same way. I could hear the motor running each time I turned the car off and on. I just pulled it up about 8 or 10 inchs. Works ok for me, I don't like the looks of the long antenna, so I'm leaving mine like it is.

Default If motor runs you need a new mast many posts here on fixing

If the motor runs chances are your mast is broken. A new mast from ANTENNAMASTSRUS is less than $20. See posts how to repair.
I did mine in about 3 hours.

Thanks , yea I know it's an easy cheap fix, but I don't like the tall antenna.

One of the first things I did when I bought my vert was replace the antenna with an hidden amplified antenna that I mounted inside the rear fender.

So far reception is indistinguishable from the stock antenna.
