Default Memory Functions

A new to me 2004 C5 (with only 7800 miles), and I have a memory problem with the seats/steering. I can set it and it will work a few times then I have to reset it. I installed a new Optima battery and I have checked the starting voltage and all acceptable.

You do know you have to press the unlock on the key fob first, right?

Does the DIC return to the odometer display each time you start that it has a memory loss too? Leave the DIC on some other display. It should remain there the next time you start it up. If it goes back to the Odometer, usually a low battery. Note that not all Optima's are good and from the things I read in here, seems like %50 are defective but don't hold me to it. Check your battery cable connections at the battery and the starter solenoid.

Optima's are great batteries! Use your key fob so it can select memory #.

OK, so I just purchased a C5 also, and have a question on the memory/key fob.
When pressing the unlock on the key fob, how do differentiate between memory #1 and #2 settings?
Mine seems to be set to #2 when I unlock, and I want it to #1.

if you use the #2 key fob then the car will default to the #2 memory, if you use the #1 key fob it will default to the #1 memory

Me three... Great question and answers. I thought that I had an intermitent problem, some times it worked perfect, some times not at all. Had the #2 fob and it defaulted to that setting.

I also don't always lock the car, so I don't use the unlock function

One other thing that I got out of the manual Pushing memory function button doesn't work while you are moving, only stopped, Safety first
