Since I'm a simple man I'm finding this hard to figure out. Today, my "Check Engine" light came on while driving home from work. First time since I've owned the car. Of course I immediately came to the forum and did a bit of research, then decided to go out and pull the codes. In the automatic cycle of codes there was nothing "current" - many had a "H" but no "C" indicators. I cleared the codes, tightened the gas cap just for grins, and fired it up and no more "check engine" light.
Any ideas on what or why? The only thing "unusual" in the last few days was our Sunday ride (170 miles) and one fill up toward the end of the ride. BP mid grade octane. Other than that, nothing done to the car. Last Friday I did have the skip shift module added so I could eliminate that annoying 1st to 4th stuff. Other than that....nothing.
Inspect the gas cap. If there are cracks present in the rupper gasket piece (or whatever it's called) that is located on the inside of the gas-cap, then you may need to replace it.
I'll plan on what y'all have suggested. I did check the gas cap and it appears the "gasket" has small cracks all the way around. I'll stop and pick one up tomorrow just as a preventative.
