help can anyone help me to narrow my problem down i'm getting the dic codes from my 2000 c5 of rtd module of C 0710 (steering position signal malfunction ),bcm module of b2723 (pass-key detection circuit) and pcm p1571(traction control torque request circuit). On another hand held computer for my year car the codes came up as c1232(Lf wheel speed sensor open or short).c1233(Rf wheel sensor open or short)and c1277(excessive torque).i'm incline to go with the codes my own dic diagnostic are giving me.but by reading the guide on active control/handling diagnostic guide and numerous threads my car seems to be acting like the the second set of codes.when i bought the car in 2006 the abs lights was on. in 2011 the active/handling/traction control lights came on. in 2009 i got caught in about 4 inches of snow the dic message came on and read taking over traction the brakes and gas pedals was moving and it witched me about 70ft to my garage. Was abs wprking then? the steering wheel starts to shake at about 70 mph could i need a alignment to take care of most or all of my problems.
No. an alignment is not likely to cure all of your problems. Presuming that your tires are in excellent shape. I would take some attention in the inspection of your tie rod ends if you have a shaking at higher speeds. If you have all the codes written down, now is the time to clear them. Upon reset The MIL will re-illuminate. the codes now present are most likely to be the actual ones. It is my best guess that the codes for the counters will come up again. The wheel counters are essential for the operation of the ABS, Traction Control System, Active Handling. These provide an essential signal of not only the individual wheel speed, but the rate of changes that occur.
In other words the signal change rate determines whether or not enough intervention has been applied to ballast the system. PWM (Pulse Wave Modulation) are sampled from each point by the computer, which plays the role of protocol controller. Without the wheel sensors, it becomes impossible for the computer to perform its duties simply because it does not have the variables it is designed to process.
Put in simple words, your wheel speed sensors are not working properly for one or more reasons. You will need to get those to start doing their job before any further progress can be expected.
I am surprised that you have gone that long without them.
Let me tell you this much. Get those 'counters' working and sending signal to the computer. Make sure the VSS is plugged in. It is along the top passenger side of the differential. The transmission must also be plugged in. The system does make a huge difference in driveability as it manages the ride. The car is capable of much more from an operating standpoint.
