Well this afternoon, I took a cruise in the c5 to my buddies house which is about 20 miles away. On this particular 40 mile or so round trip I got a total of 9 corvette waves (actually 8; one guy gave me the wave in a Pontiac Solstice, guess he thinks thats almost a vette)
Interesting that you keep "score". I've never had that many waves in a single round trip.
I normally dont keep score as well, but on this short jaunt i got the first 3 waves in less then 10 miles out, which is unusual, so i kept a mental note the rest of the way up and back.
Question, does it count if I wave at you when I'm not in my Vette? I'm kinda **** about supporting this tradition and from time time I wave without thinking (in my trk, stangs or wife's Audi)...& yes I do get wired looks back when I do it!

I get waves all the time from non 'Vettes. It is a cool car, after all.

It's not. But it's typical for drivers of uncommon vehicles to wave at each other. Bikers do it even for different brands. Next time you are following a school bus when another school bus approaches, watch the oncoming bus driver - chances are s/he will wave.

The wave has been a part of Corvette history for a long time - kind of a show of mutual respect, camaraderie, etc. Unfortunately, many owners have no idea of the history behind the wave.
For the OP, sounds like you had a great day seeing all those Vettes on the road and getting so many .

DUH!!!!! It's called comraderie, which is recognition between those with common interests and/or causes!!! Ask a WWII vet what a shared wave meant!!!!!!!!!!
I wave at all other 'Vettes whether I'm in mine or not!! I was a Harley mechanic for a lot of years and I think that we have been doing the wave longer than any other modern day group!!!!!! It has now evolved to all two wheelers.
I will continue to wave enthusiastically as it lets the other person know that I share their interest!!

I couldn't find the Harley Wave on YouTube. Can you help those of us who are unfamiliar with it?
