Interesting article in the latest Evo magazine. Compared the ZO6, BMW M coupe, TVR, Porsche Carrera 4S, and new Acura NSX.
They were really confused by the Vette. You could tell they wanted to hate it (and said so), but couldn't. They commented on its power, but also stated it was the best sorted out and most stable American sports car they had ever tested. They were impressed with its ability to stay on the Porsche, and overtake the M coupe. They said it was ultimately stable and easy to drive hard. The TVR and M coupe got panned for their questionable handling. They panned the Corvette for its plastic interior. They put the Porsche as number one, the NSX as two and the rest tied for three (lame.)
What was interesting is, they were judging the ZO6 based on its import price of 50,000 pounds sterling! That's over $75,000! OUCH!
Agreed, really fun article to read and nice picture of the Z06 with the front wheels off the ground on launch! It was funny seeing the British journalists forced to admit the Z06 was the most responsive any gear any RPM car they had ever driven. They got more than they ever expected and they were setting their expectations on a $75,000+ price! They were so impressed they classify the Z06 as a supercar in their knowledge section at the rear of the publication. That's why I like this car so much; IMO it would be a decent value at $70,000. At the current US pricing, it's a steal! The 2002 Porsche 911 is also an amazing car with the six speed and the decision would have been much harder for me if it sold for $50K as well.
As a closing tought, I just think it's great living in the US where you can buy a 400 horsepower supercar at $3K below MSRP of 50K and still get 3.9% financing for five years and a 3/36 warranty from the manufacturer. Europeans go crazy when I tell them that... Long live the USA!

I just read the article, being born in the UK and moving here at 25, 10 years ago, they just don't like American cars period. If it had out performed all the others, they would have ragged on it for something else.
The British pay way too much for their cars compared to the Europeans/US for the same model, in original price, tax and running costs. I got my 2002 Z06 for just over 47K which is way under the 75K quoted...:chevy
