Was looking at a 00 vert and the guy selling it to me has a texas blue title with his name on it but its got bonded stamped on it. My question is if its safe to buy one with the title bonded. 3 owner car. 2nd owner sold the car before obtaining title. So the 3rd owner got a bonded title. Should i possibly the 4th owner run?Price is $12k with 85k miles. Clean car inside out. Only problems car has is an ac leak and no cats so has check engine light on. Paint is ok not the best but good for my tastes. Let me know what u think
Read especially the last paragraph. I would want to know a lot more about the car and why a regular title couldn't be issued before plunking down any money on this one. There are a lot of cars with good titles out there - so it may be safer to just find one of them.

Come monday i will call the dmv to find more info. The guy who i might add is a disabled vet gave me all the info about the bonded title. He does have the title in his name. I took a snap shot of the title showing the vin # so i can check with the dmv
tax office told me it was ok having a bonded title and as soon as its put in my name it will have a clear title, but car sold before i could grab it. so i bought me a 99 ws6 in the meantime for a good price and somewhat low miles. still looking for a c3 and a c5 though.
ONE THING ALSO TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN CONSIDERING BUYING A PRE-2001 VETTE IS THE EBCM SITUATION. THE EBCM's FOR THOSE MODELS ARE BECOMING RARER AND MORE EXPENSIVE BY THE DAY. THERE ARE PLACES THAT ADVERTISE THAT THEY CAN REPAIR THEM BUT TO DATE I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE SATISFIED CUSTOMER ON THIS FORUM. E CAVEAT EMPTOR (BUYER BEWARE).

Has an a/c leak eh? Well, I just spent 30 days fixing the a/c on a car I bought. What a nightmare. First had to get the head unit display working, then charge it and see where it was leaking. Replace hose. Recharge, still leaking. Replace compressor, still leaking. replace more hoses, still leaking. Replace squeaking belt. Idler pulley fails. Replace that, see that the new belt is damaged. Replace it again. Replace evaporator... No more leaks, but, now all the vacuum lines need replaced. Fix that, new belt is not running right, tensioner needs replaced now. That comes tomorrow... Charged the system with a can of freon, seems to be ready and waiting for a belt to go back on so I can finish the job.
And that's just the a/c. I won't get into the other things over the past 30 days.
Car was a good deal, 83Kmi, clean inside and out.... Sound familiar?
Mines almost there. I just have to wait and see what breaks tomorrow. Hasn't been a day go by without something needing replaced.
