Curious if anybody has installed a heat pump water heater in their garage, and if it made a difference in ambient temperature. I'm sweating bullets just opening the hood as it is now.
bought one of those portable a/c units at Home depot. I raised it on 4 cinder blocks with a wood top and had a carpenter drill a hole through the garage wall to for the hot air(used a dryer vent) and a smaller one for the condensation. It works fairly well on. Wish I bought the larger unit.
My garage id=s next to my furnace room. I had an HVAC gut run duct work from the furnace roor to the garage. Works prefectly.
Did you just add one vent? My blower is in the garage so this would be very easy and inexpensive....plus the winter benefits of heat.

How much room did that take up? I'm really pushing space right now

No....LOL I have brick siding so there's no way this would work. I do like the heating element tho, is it ran off your hot water system or self contained?
I have the 16,000 btu version of this unit, in the box, setting on the garage floor, doing NO GOOD. I just haven't had the guts to cut a hole in the garage wall, so I don't spend near enough time in the garage (108 here this afternoon).
Maybe this Fall when I don't need heating or cooling.

Great idea and Very smart...been thinking the same thing...I'm not sure everybody caught on...heat pump water heaters are not popular due to their high price....I'm sure it give some decent cold air...would depend on how big you garage is....I wish I could pump the cold air coming from my pool heat pump into the garage

Yeah, I'm just curious about circulation with something like that. Original plan was to swap out the money burner in there now, and throw a fan over the heater to circulate.
If I had a window I probably would have threw a window unit in there....but don't want to detract value by hacking up the wall.
I have a separate system for mine, i installed a Mitsubishi Hyper Heat unit for my garage which does heating and cooling and it works flawlessly!!
I thought about these too, we have them all over the place in Afghanistan and Iraq. They work great there, just more moisture to screw parts up here is the only problem.
