Are there different grades of chrome wheels. I have seen posts of '03's with Z06 wheels that look sharp. Are all chrome wheels created the same? Are there some brands that should be avoided due to quality over time? I am not looking for an argument just opinions with experience. Thanks for any feedback
I'm with you, I'm looking to replace the wheels on my 03 AE too. I have found Z05 wheels for the 03 but I want deep dish and having problems finding them. I have heard that some wheels are heavier and will effect handling. Looking forward to responses!
I have a set of 19 and 20s with tires for sale. They are american racing ZR50. They are a lipped wheel and they are chrome. I have 3800 in them, i will take 2000.
I think the 03 Z06 wheels you are talking about are polished, not chromed. I much prefer the look of a polished and clear coated wheel over a chrome wheel.

I just got these Chip Foose wheels, custom made to fit the Corvette offset (19"x8" front, 20"x10" rear). The wheel size and offset match is something you need to be very conscious of before ordering any aftermarket wheels, otherwise they might not clear the brakes, fit under the fenders, etc. Most wheels nowadays are lightweight polished aluminum alloys, not "chrome." I also highly recommend Bridgestone Potenza RE970 tires, very sticky, great ride & handling.

Not to rain on your parade....But those wheels are um, eewww! They dont look good to "me" at all. But thats my IMHO! Dont take offense either!
JW Motoring wheels. 18 & 19" setup. Chrome. Had them about 18 months on my daily driver. They are heavier than stock - I know because I weighed them out of curiousity, but I don't notice anything in my style of driving, which is some spirited driving. Have had no problems and they are probably a lower grade and lower cost wheel than some of the other brands out there.

Were you going for a replacement look for a damaged stock wheel or just going up one size larger? I ask, because these look an awful lot like the stock LeMans CE wheel, which is nice looking, but everybody has 'em...

Several factors: My stock wheels were toast. I wanted deep dish. I wanted chrome. And I liked the style. I put custom wheels on every vehicle I own and I usually put on something much different than stock, but in this instance I liked this style the best without spending a ton of money (for more money I would have gone another route). And I also went up in size and width.

See, I knew you had a good reason. I wanted to cover the brakes for one thing, I also wanted a spoke wheel "look," and when I saw these Chip Foose wheels, I had to have 'em. Some folks don't like them, most do, I like 'em, and NO one else has them. I had to special order for the Vette offset, well worth the 6 week wait & $100 "extra" per wheel for *me*. I have the originals with the original tires that have just 2,600 miles on them. I don't think I'll sell them, just hang onto them until I get tired of the car, which won't be anytime soon, either. (Great looking car, BTW!)

Reason: minor addition

My other rig's wheels for example:
You see now, right there is one of the best examples of a nice black accented wheel. It almost looks like the "struts" are floating....Most black wheels, even some of the accented ones , lose detail and just look blah.
