Local new car dealer has a 03 TR Z06 with 61k on the odometer. Looks pretty stock, wheels, exhaust ect. All the gaps on the car look ok but there are several scratches in various places and the most troubling spot is on the drivers door. Near the top edge it looks as if the door swung open and hit something on the edge of the door and cracked the panel and them some kind of home remedy was applied to make it look "not so bad". I was thinking of test driving the car to see how it performs but they are asking $25.5k. I think they are on crack even figuring in their haggle room I don't think we could get close. I would have to see it up on a lift too before I would be satisfied this thing hasn't been rode hard and put up wet too many times.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated. I have a 99FRC that actually looks like it was cared for better than this 03 Z but used Z's rarely show up for sale around here that I could not help but stop and check it out.
My understanding is that C5 doors are hard to come by. If you really want this car find out the cost of having the door repaired properly or insist that it is fixed properly before you buy it. Also, their price is great for a 5000 mile garage queen but is a bit excessive for a 2003 in great condition with 61K miles on it. Remember, the foregoing is my opinion, and is worth exactly what you paid for it.
If youve got a 99 FRC i wouldnt even wast my time going to look at the Z06. Those scratches, the price, and the miles were enough to tell me that unless it was right down the street I wouldnt be worried about it.
$25.5K is high for the car. That is MHO you can find a much better deal on a Z. I bought one about a year ago, 2002, 49K on the odometer for $20K. Deals are out there. My 2003 (before I was rear-ended and the car was totaled) had 45K on it and I paid $22 for it in March 2010. I would keep looking.
Bought my 03 tr Z06 with 69k on clock for under $19000. It had some nice mods with a trunk load of parts and clean as hell. I've only had it for 4 months, greatest 1200 miles I've ever driven. Lots of deals out there
Decided that the car wasn't worth the effort. The only thing I can guess about the price is that we're less than 15 miles from Fort Campbell and I assume that from time to time a lot of the guys rotating back home have money to burn and they aim to help them burn it??
