Looking for an FRC?
a) The C5 FRC/Z06 models are the only Corvettes that I find attractive. The sexy cockpit-style roofline gives the car an almost exotic look, and the trunk gives the car a nice butt---something the coupes lack. The C6 models I find ugly, as they have absolutely no butt at all. Looks like 3/4 of a full car. Yuck.
b) I love performance cars. Max performance cars. I bought my Z06 to be used as a cruiser, a road racer, and an occasional drag racer. 3 sets of wheels and tires required.
It made sense to buy the lightest and stiffest model.c) Wind and sunburn is overrated. I have owned several t-top, targa, and convertible cars since the late '80's. I don't miss much. Besides, I will be adding my 3rd targa top Supra to the garage next spring. She will be built for street slaying and drag racing, and maybe occasional autocross use. It will have a cage in it, so any former targa "flex" in the chassis will be gone anyway.
I pull into Hannafords (Grocery Store) there is a black z06 with NH plates. I parked my 98 corvette nose to nose, took a few pictures with my cell phone. I really never noticed that the lines were different, I figured it would look like a targa same lines etc.
The z06 reminded me of my 74 convertible as far as when I put on the hardtop it doesn’t look like a 74 coupe. I’ll stick to convertibles but I can now see why some people like the look of the FRC.
