need advise on what tires to get for my 98 vette. im just a cruzer guy so performance is no that important. feed back from u experts will help me make the right decision. tk's, geno
I understand the benefit of runflats. However the ride difference is like night and day for me. And since you are a cruiser guy I would suggest a non runflat tire. The runflats sidewalls are very hard and have a rougher ride when compared to non runflats.
This comes up so other I'm surprised you didn't find a list on or using the search function, but the overall consensus is to go with Michelin Pilot sports PS/2 and since I like the run-flat quality, I bought Michelin PS/2 ZP's. The ride 100% better than the original Goodyear Eagles and they are sooo much quieter, and the handling is fantastic, Chevrolet now installs Michelin's on the ZR1.
But for you, they not expensive and will give you the most service for your money.
I only cruise too. Mine had Khumo ASX tires when I bought it. They do ride nice and are quite on the highway with good handling when wet. I liked the ride so much I put them on my 68, and I always have AAA.
Never had run-flats, never will. I'm also a cruiser and I do take long road trips but not a daily driver.
You have several options available to get around the lack of a spare and that's has been my choice. C5 Z06's don't come with run-flats so you could go that route with a can of fix-a-flat. I've gone with the plugging kit and 12v compressor and a backup with a scissor jack and lug wrench if removing the wheel is necessary. Overkill I'm sure but I like a plan "B".

I ditched the runflats and went with Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires (non-runflats). With the tire pressure monitoring system keeping track of any air pressure loss, and with me having a portable air compressor, plug kit, a cell phone, and emergency road service on my car insurance, I feel comfortable enough to not worry about having runflats.
You will get a much better ride going to non-runflats too along with a much more reasonably priced tire.
If they are still available, on my previous C5 I had Firestone Firehawk runflats. They were a tremendous improvement over Goodyears, actually rode pretty good. They were only made in stock sizes.
I’m big on scenic road trips and I find myself far off the beaten path. For me security is paramount and crawling on the pavement to plug a flat is not something I want to do. For me it’s Runflats for sure.
