Thanks guys, for all the responses. From what I've heard on this and other forums, sorry guys, but the super suction cup mount is not worth the $ as it won't last very long. And for those of you running with the visor clip, does your unit have GPS? The 9500ix does, which requires the top of the detector to be exposed to heaven, and the pics I've seen of it seem to show the top not so exposed and instead, facing the roof. Is that right?I really like the Blendmount but can't justify spending the dough as I will be using this detector with 2 other cars as well as the vette and need mounts for them also.
Have any of you seen this: http://www.amazon.com/UltiMount-Rada...w+mirror+mount
I like the metal arm that connects to the visor bolt, however the pictures I've seen show the detector resting along side of the mirror, instead of below it. Seems it still has plenty of windshield (heaven) above it for the GPS to work.

Mine does have its rear under glass, but its front end is under the ceiling/roof. Mine does not have GPS, though. In my experience, GPS reception is rather forgiving, but I too would be interested to know how GPS-enabled detectors work with the visor mount.
I understand that it would turn off when you turn off the car and disrupt the power supply, however the earlier post indicates that the detector cannot be turned off when the car is on. Don't they all have on/off buttons?
So when you purchased the Homelink Autodimming mirror, did it come with a round tubular mirror mount? Any pics?
I really like the Blendmount as well and thought about killing two birds with one stone and installing a Homelink mirror that can also accept the Blendmount. However, I own a vert and need a mirror with map lights. So far, my search has come up empty.
I had a local shop install the Kenwood, bezel and back up cam that I got from Dennis.
The homelink mirror was the standard one they sell to everyone. The blend mount fits fine as the mirror mount is tubular.
Check a couple of auto audio shops in your area and I'll bet they can get you a mirror with map lights. Since I have the nav in the radio I didn't get one with compass and temp. They said they could get me one with these features and map lights for $350, installed.

Maybe that's what I need to do next. I checked the HomeLink website and supporting on-line dealers and could not find a model that provided me with all the features I need to make the mod work. They offer some large, truck-designed, mirrors that have everything, however they look out of place in a sports car and the features are overkill, because like you, I have a NAV system, etc.
I just need (1) autodimming which allows the detector power supply wiring, (2) map lights on bottom, (3) Homelink and (4) tube design to allow the Blendmount.
