Default Car

I have a free car wash card for taking my mom's car to this place(when she moved here, they sent out a free wash coupon, then they sent a 2nd by mistake) they seem to do a good job, and on the 2nd free wash, the lady asked if I wanna join the club and earn a free wash.

I said ok, don't sell my info, I hate telemarketers, she said they don't.

It's the kind of place where you pull up, someone vacuums carpet, then they pull it up to a automated wash you can from inside the building, then someone pulls the car out to a shaded area and dries it, etc.

Do any of you see a reason not to get a Corvette washed there?

I always wash it myself at home, or at a coin op at night.

Yes, several reasons. Some of the automated car washes will not accept wheels that are wider than a certain width. There is the risk of damage to the wheel. And the Corvette sits so low, I would be worried about damage to the undercarriage from the car wash equipment on the floor. Perhaps that car wash is different - I would certainly ask those questions before trying it. I just do not like the idea of running a car like the Vette through one of those. Would much rather just use a hand wand on the car.

Plus the mostly likey use recycled water and recycled drying towels which are probably not microfiber. The car will be clean(er), however it may be scratched as well.

I would never let anyone or anyplace wash/clean any of my vehicles...much less an automated car wash.

I'm just way too **** for that. Just ask my wife.

Your car will melt if it gets wet.

Kinda funny, I just started watching the tv show Breaking Bad, and the first episode (on netflix) the teacher has a job at a car wash after school is over.

He is a cashier, and the guy who owns the place makes him go scrub wheels, he goes out and it is a C6 Corvette, he wipes tire dressing on it.

And those things have a system that pulls your car through it and the manual specifically says not to use those type of car washes doesn't it?

I do use an auto type car wash but it doesn't have any rails for your tires to get stuck in. But it's just to get surface dirt off, then I rewash it.

The carwash my wife takes her car to she pays like 40 bucks a monthand she can have it washed as many times she wants in that time. They vaccuum it then take it to a spot and hand wash it then move it up front and do the windows inside and ry the outside. Looks great every time. My only complaint is they put on too much tire dressing and it flings onto the edge of the wheel well.

Hand wash only. Wash your mitt after every use. 2 bucket wash. One with soap in it, the other with clean water. Here is a video from my buddies. After you wash your car this way, you'll wonder why you washed your car any other way before. I get all of my stuff from www.detailedimage.com Here is a picture of my first two bucket wash. Now, you can see what you're wiping your car with if you're only using one bucket! Crazy, now I can't wash my car anywhere but in the driveway, with two buckets. Disregard the axe

The way I wash mine is, first I spray the car all over with my spray nozzle handle (what ever you call it)

I have a brush on a pole I bought with soft bristles, I pour a little Turtle Wax brand car wash with wax in it on the bristles, after hosing it off to make sure it's clean and go to town.

I always rinse the bristles off really good when done, and keep the head pointed up and away from the wall in the garage.

Then use a little mitt with the fishnet covering on it to break up bug guts, I feel with my hand for bug guts/goop that I can't see.

I wash that sponge out good also before and after use.

My car does have minor scratches/swirls in the paint, even when I got it back spring of 2003, maybe the previous owner used a drive through wash on it.

I have another question about dust, how do you get the dust out behind the A/C grill, it's getting built up in them?

Car washes are bad. If you take your vet there it's bad. Too many posibilities for damage. The car wash down the street refuses to wash them due to the liability.

I also have a electric leaf blower, it's pretty powerful, I used it to blow the car off once, felt kinda like a idiot doing though as neighbors saw!

This may be just a rumor, but I believe that fishnet covering can cause swirls in your paint. I think I've heard that from a few people, could be completely way off though. Could be something worth looking into!
