Default the revs won't drop, help...

Hey guys,

So I just got my car back yesterday. I was in a minor accident and had to replace the wheels and a couple other small things.. no engine or body damage.

My car struggles with dropping the rpms back to 1000.. When I come to a stop whether in 1st or neutral the rpms clime to 2200 and sit there, I have to put it in first and mess with the clutch to get them to drop down, then after a few seconds it will drop to 1000rpms on its own.

Also I have to give an insane amount of pressure to get the car in reverse.

what do you guys think??

It needs to go back to the shop so the guys can fix what they screwed up, if they can.

Worst shop in the world, they took forever on my car and were very sketchy. It was just a chevy dealership's collision center, I should of taken it somewhere else.

Could it be as simple as a vacuum leak? Maybe they knocked loose a line under the hood?

Sometimes when the battery is disconnected, the C5 will "lose" it's idle memory.
You need to try to reset it. There is a procedure for this, but I don't know the exact steps. I think if you do a search here for "idle relearn", you may find it.

If it worked fine before you took it into the shop for the repairs, I would take it back and get them to look at it. I know you don't like the shop, but maybe their mechanics that work on the engine, etc. are better than the ones that work in the body shop.

Will disconnecting the battery affect my custom tune? Also will doing the ideal relearn affect my tune?

I would defiantly take it back. If it was fine before, they must have done something. Try anything before paying out of your own pocket.

I will if I have to, I was hoping someone might of known of something I could try myself, or maybe seeing of my insurance will agree to let me take it to LG who originally did my tune, instead of taking it back to the collision center that did my repairs

Call Anthony at LG and just tell him what is going on with your car. He is a great guy and knows his stuff. He won't charge you to listen to you. Lou and the guys like success stories. Anthony will give you good advice.

Tell him Kent from Norman said hello!

check all around your air intake for a leak. If you're getting too much fuel ( high revs) it could be because you're getting in too much air.I don't think the two problems are related.

The shop is telling me they don't know if it's related to the accident or if its their fault, and that they will send a guy out to do the diagnosis. They said if the diagnosis comes back that its not accident related or their fault then I will be responsible for paying for the diagnosis and for fixing the problem.

That was going to be my wild guess.

I will look when I get off, but would that cause a constant idle problem or would it cause a problem randomly like in my case, because sometimes its fine and it randomly jumps up and takes a bit or me bogging it down to settle.

Definitely could be vacuum, if there is a crack in a line or a loose fitting. I had this issue with a Porsche Turbo.

Yes!! That sounds exactly like an air leak. I have quite a bit of experience with them as Harley Shovelhead motors were famous for air leaks at the intake manifold. It could be as simple as a vacuum line, but is possibly something more. What kind of accident were you in that took out your wheels? Sounds like a pretty hard thump. If so, a lot of things are possible.
