Default OK, another run-flat discussion

Well, I think I have decided on run-flats for my next set. I will probably go with Michelin Pilot Sport AS+ ZP's but I want to check out the others and I am a bit confused. Several things I have read recently say that these two tires are run-flat but neither of the manufacturers website even mention that... are they or aren't they???

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval
Bridegstone Potenza RE760

If I need to look for specific submodels of these (as in the Michelin ZP tires) where can I even find them (can't seem to at tirerack and discounttire)?

Incidently this helped me decide on run-flats: http://www.z06vette.com/forums/f62/i...49/index2.html

You won't go wrong with the Michelin's.

We, too, are about ready for new tires on our 2 month old, 2000 RED vert. Still has the original Goodyear run-flats at 44K miles but are cracked so it's time.

The car is used only for cruising, no performance cornering or quick starts. We want QUIET...

I like the idea of run-flats but carry a 12 volt pump and plugs, and have AAA. I assume that most everyone who has switched to non run-flats are relying on their DIC to advise them if the pressure is getting low, and that you will have enough time to get the tire fixed.

So, if I stay with run-flats, what is the quietest tire?

(Or am I just being paranoid over a flat tire).

Thanks, Bob

I agree the Michelin's are a good set of tires. I've not tried the Firestone Wide Ovals, but did have a set of the Firehawk SZ50 EP RFTs on my '00 and liked them a lot. Unfortunately I do not think they make them anymore - what is listed on Tire Rack's site is only for the stock rear sizes.

Another vote for the Michelin Pilot sport tires. I changed from the goodyears to the pilot sports 7k miles ago and have been very happy with the new tires.

For some reason those Bridgestone rft tires don't come up on the Tirerack search when you search by car type (2001 vert emt) but they do when you search by tire size... wonder why?

I friend of mine just went with the Michelin runflats on his C6 from the stock Goodyears. He loves them and says they are an upgrade in every way. Traction, noise, comfort, price, you name it.
