I have been tempted to buy from other members who have offered their removed seats for sale, however, I am unsure of which year seats would be simple bolt and plug-ins for my 2001 coupe. I also have been mightily tempted by some of the Z06 seats being offered, and wonder if those would bolt right in to existing hole locations in my car.
Could someone please indicate which year seats are “plug and play” bolt-ins within the C5 years? If the C6 seats would also fit “easily” please describe what needs to be done to use these seats.
Apologies out in front if this is posted in the wrong forum. I did not think that it belonged in Tech. Also, if I missed the definitive string on this subject, another apology - I looked for it but failed.
Anyway, I am an new owner of my “new” 2001 coupe (bought from an owner on this amazing site). I must have missed my mid-life crisis (I’m pushing 70) so I’m having it now. First Vette was a 62 white/red with a red insert. sam
The inside upper section of the sports seats that rubs against the center console is fabric vs. the GM "leather" that's on the outside. If you switch seats, the fabric will be facing the outside.
To be clear, I am not looking to swap driver to passenger - I'm thinking of replacing both of my seats with those offered for sale on this site, and hoping if someone can tell me that all/some years of "regular" (non-sport) seats will fit right in where my regular seats (non-sport) now live. sam

Yes, all C5 seats will physically interchange/fit, one for the other. Other than the obvious differences in the upper section, i.e. "Sport" vs "Standard" (which has no bearing on being able to easily install), the only other thing to consider is power vs manual seat-base controls. If you go from power - to - power seats: piece of cake. All underseat electrical connectors will plug right in. If your going from non-power to - power, there's more work involved, but still not bad.
Be aware, the C5 (and C6) Corvette seats are fairly narrow; more so than many of the aftermarket seats out there, so if you ever consider buying them, you MUST make sure they fit in the physical room available. Most do not it seems.
Try a search if you want more info. This subject has come up once or twice before.
Thanks HTH. I have been eyeballing some of the sport seats as well as my "regular" type. After your assurances, I can now pull the trigger on either regular or sport seats when they show up on the forum. sam
You can also use your exsisting frames and swap the foam and seat covers. My 99 orginally had standard seats, I installed aftermarket "sport" foam and covers, a piece of cake!

I just upgraded from base seats in my 2000 to sport seats from a later model, They will bolt right in, But unless you had a power passenger seat prior, you will need to make a fused harness to run power to the new seat, Unless you are installing a seat with a manual base. It's an afternoon job and is really simple. Some have found a used wiring harness from another car and went right to the fuse box.
There is a bunch of info out there for doing this swap.

(Good info.)
Could you steer me to the swap info.
I want to swap my 98C5 standard seats power on drivers, manual on passenger.
To 04C5 sport seats power on drivers and passenger but the control box for seat memory & telescopic wheel were taken and not included with deal.
Doe's this make a difference?
As a last resort can I just put the 04c5 sport seats on the 98c5 standard seat frames?
why would you want to buy a complete seat? or a complete set of seats? it would be much cheaper to convert you present seats to anything you want.. the frames of the seats are all the same... all you need to do if you want a fresh look it to purchase new skins. if you have standard seats, you can leave them that way and add new skins, if you want to change them to sports seats all you need it to buy the 3 piece foam set that is designed for this frame.. an easy GM purchase... you can also order factory skins or go with after market skins with multiple colors.. of course you can buy used seats and just unbolt what you have and bolt in the used seats.. no matter from which body style they came from.
I don't mean to usurp this thread, but I have a semi-relevant question on seat changes that I haven't been able to answer.
I am installing some non-Corvette seats in my 2002 Coupe. They will replace the stock power seats that have all the lumbar/side bolster controls
I am going to mount the new seats to the stock power seat rails. Because I won't need the lumbar control switches any more, just the one 6 way seat position switch
I would like to know if the simple non-lumbar switch will plug into my wiring connector and if the seat position switch will work properly. Does anybody know?

The seats are in good shape, power on passenger seat, my wife wants that. The. Price is good.

thanks for the explanation.. A good reason indeed... its important to keep the misses happy.. I've got 46 years of wedded bliss under my belt. Once you understand your position in the family chain of command, you will be less apt to shoot yourself.

Have no clue, but if I had to take a semi-educated guess, I'd say no. The C7, by all accounts thus far, is overall so significantly different in so many ways than 5s or 6s, I'd just about be wiling to bet that along with that major interior re-design, they changed dimensions on seat mounting as well. The main dimensions that count are width (both tracks AND seat bolsters), depth front to back (both tracks and seat "body" itself) and seating surface height (both tracks and seating surface).
When a few start hitting the salvage yards, or when some baller decides to try, we'll find out. I give it about 6 mos to a year.
