You can use regular auto paint - my nephew painted my FRCs electron blue and it has held up very well. Just do the right prep before painting.

I'd love to do that too, but I worry about paint bleeding down the sides.

I have a white 98 (see avatar) and the letters on my fuel rail covers were peeling off from the previous owner painting them (but done poorly). I took them off and washed them in the sink with a scrub brush and Dawn which cleared out 95% of the old paint. The rest I had to scratch out with either a small wood chisel or the tip of my knife. For paint, I went to WallyWorld and bought a 1/2 pint can of oil-based Rust-Oleum enamel (in gloss white) for like $4 and a package of small tipped (variety) artist paint brushes (seems like they were around $5 or so, can't recall). I didn't try to "paint" the letters on the rail covers. I simple "dabbed" the paint into the letter recesses and kept doing that until I "filled" up the letter recess. If I made a mistake and got paint outside the letter area, I simply wiped it off with a rag that I had moistened with a little bit of mineral spirits. I let the first one dry overnight and installed the next day, then repeated with the 2nd cover. Took a couple of days and a 2-3 hrs per cover doing it this way, but the end results look very good. The Rust-Oleum paint says good to 200F so doubt if the rail covers get much hotter than that. If it starts peeling, I'll look for better paint next time. I can post a pic if you'd like. Enjoy...

If Dawn is available, can she come help with mine? (Sorry, I couldn't resist. And I tried! I really did.)

Seriously, I and other members might want to see the pics after a description like that - why not post them please.

Ok, you asked for em. Here goes.. Haven't cleaned the motor in a couple of months, so a little bit dusty. While the CORVETTE letters are recessed and you fill them in, the 5.7L letters are raised and you have to paint the top of them.

You'd better not let Ecklers and the others find out you did this for under ten bucks.

Great Job!!

I'd like to do the ribs too. Been fretting about how to mask it to avoid a 'schmutzy' job, but maybe hand paint is the way to go. Did someone mention using a 'good quality paint"? If so, what does one recommend? What about auto touchup in the jar? Spray would be nice, but the masking thing, and spraying it into the cap and brushing takes too many coats.

I dripped melted candle wax into the already red letters to block the spray paint. Sand the excess wax off if it overflows. Spary the balance in desired color (plus clear coat). After paint is thouroghly dry, run hot water on the wax and it will come off easily.
