Default Curing Clutch Woes

Rob Smith of RPS Clutches and I recently had a discussion on why clutches may chatter or stick even though installation was correct. Rob informed me that there may be inherent issues with the input shaft that should be retified prior to installing a new clutch. Such issues could be rust, burrs, or wear induced by the previous clutch disc(s). His solution was to lap the shaft and then apply copper anti-seize. Attached is the PDF created by RPS outlining the procedure. I feel that the information can apply to any clutch and wanted to make it available to those experiencing such problems regardless of manufacturer.

You missed "rectified". I've got a RPS twin street, and luckily, it doesn't rattle, or stick, but it does have a light-switch engagement. The "fix" for the above, as represented by the RPS spokesman is probably just a deflection from the earlier twins that had those problems. It may work, but at the cost of a complete tear down, and precision machine work?
