Does your AT4 do this?
When I back up and then place the selector in drive, the engine always revs approx 200 rpm above idle and then immediately drops back to normal idle (approx 500 rpm) once the torque load is back on the drive line in the forward gear. The car has approx 25K miles on the odo and the trans fluid is bright red with no burned smell. The trans has never leaked and is positive in all shifts at all loads. I have a Silverado and when I go through the same procedure with it, the rpm only bump up approx 50 over idle. My Corvette is a 2001 and the Silverado is a 2008 with a 5.3 ltr engine. My Corvette has no modifications to the engine or drive line. What say you?

I have never had an occasion to have to back up when the engine is up to op temp. So, I do not know. I will have to try this. I do know that the Silverada always bumps up approx 50 rpm whether hot or cold.

False Alarm!! I took the Vette out and warmed it up to op temp and then went through the shift selection sequence and it works perfectly with just a 50 rpm bump when going through neutral. So, the problem that I thought that I had was just because the Vette was cold and had been sitting for several days --- which is often. Thanks for listening.
