I have noticed this issue since i put on a 25 percent underdrrive pulley. Now onto the problem.
I have roughly 11.6 volts when the fans kick on at idle. I was wondering do old fan motors draw even more amps? Also should I purchase a overdrive alternator pulley? If so what? I have a stock 98 auto..
I have cleaned all grounds, I have hooked the battery directly to the alternator thinking it was a heat soak issue... since i have long tube headers.... I installed a new alternator, and optima battery too..
Any suggestions would be great.
Hey neighbor- I am also in Bensalem, PA. As far as your voltage issue goes- did you check this with a digital multi-meter right at the battery terminals or are you going by the dash gauge? Does the voltage go up when you come off idle and increase RPM's? Has it given you any starting or other issues? I am running an under-drive pulley and my voltage is usually in the low 14 volt range. I am not 100% certain but if I remember correctly my under-drive pulley is only 15%. Maybe another 10% makes that much of a difference.
