Default Blackwing questions

Just installed the SLP Blackwing on my 2003 vette.
1. There are 2 holes in the filter housing, different sizes.
The black hose from the original housing attaches to one hole (AIR pump?) What about the other hole? Do I just leave it, or should I be plugging it up with a grommet? Nothing in the instructions on it.
2. I assume a new Blackwing out of the box does not require oiling?

Thanks for the help.
Really enjoying my new C5!

Gary

That second hole is for an indicator that tells you when to clean the filter. It's a clear plastic device that shows a green strip when the filter is OK and is red when it is time to clean.

Check out the pics in this link and you'll see the indicator.

And you do not need to oil a new Blackwing - it is pre-oiled.

Ok, but the original vette filter did not come with this, and it does not come with the blackwing, so can I just leave it?

You're right the stock C5 filter does not have an indicator like that.

My Blackwing, which I bought new, came with the indicator and so should yours. I would contact the vendor you bought it from and ask them to send you the indicator. I would not leave the hole unplugged.

Yep they are right, your blackwing should have come with the inidicator. Definitely contact the vendor to send you one but in the meantime, yes you can plug it up for now and run without it.
