I'm not a fan of leather seats at all. When I drive the vette I always end up with a wet shirt. My wife bought a new car and it too has leather seats but they do not make me sweat nearly as much. Her car has tan leather, the vette has black leather. Is it the color of the leather or the type of leather that makes me sweat? Anyone else share this dilemma?
This issue is a personal preference one. All my previous car had cloth seats which always wore out quickly. Unfortunately the original leather GM used for the C5 is REALLY poor quality and therefore I had the same problem - I had to replace the seat within a few years. I really prefer leather to cloth in my car. Since I have grey leather, I've never had the sweating issue, so maybe it is related to color.
While it is true that leather seats cause you to sweat a lot more than cloth seats, I don't think your problem is with the color.
I think it is simply due to two things:
1) The fact that the relatively small cabin area of the Corvette is so close to the large hot engine right in front of it just creates more heat than your wife's new car.
2) The seats in the Corvette are "sports seats' and wrap more closely to your body, creating less "body breathing ability' than larger "traditional" car seats.

Maybe drivin' too fast. Makes ya sweat. Slow down.
I feel your pain....I am going to recover the seats in the Spring. I was going with black and M Yellow trim but I may do the reverse as I believe the black absorbs more heat.
I also love my Wet Oklole's I have in my truck...Cool in Summer and warm in Winter. They are wetsuit material type

IMO, the black seats don't help with keeping you cooler - I know my light gray ones are much cooler than the black ones I had in my '00. But leather seems to be a hotter fabric than the cloth ones.
Leather is hotter. Black leather is hotter when the sun hits it initially, but once you are sitting on it, that heat dissipates.
Funny thing is the best looking upholstery jobs I see at the various cruise nites I go to are cloth, and I already know it's more comfortable.
Color and temps aside, I will never choose cloth over leather for one very simple reason. Pants do not slide on cloth, so when trying to get comfortable, there is always some stress between where my body wants to be and where my pants are stuck to the seat. This results in stressed fabric exerting pressure on my 'nads which is simply and completely unacceptable!!!!!!
Screw cloth, I'll take leather every single time!!!!
The only thing I want exerting pressure on my 'nads is a gorgeous, naked, blond woman!!!!!!!

It is so gratifying to know that you will never miss an opportunity to live up to your handle.....can't believe I just set you up again....
Thanks Chasboy!!!! Glad I could contribute!!
Had a Sebring for a little while as a DD and this was a constant problem with the seats in it, so it came to mind immediately.
Hated that car with an absolute passion!!!!!

I use a Black Terry Cloth towel that has a "hood" that fits over the headrest and covers the entire seat in the Summer. Does wonders for sweaty seats...
Not by choice, believe me!!!!!!!!!!! I do have to admit that it did serve the purpose, though. AND......I did not keep it any longer than I absolutely had to!!
