So this was a new one. today I turned my 00 off and was standing outside of it with the ignition off and heard what sounds like a fan or pump kick on. I thought it was the cooling fan so I ignored it. Then later on while driving I heard the same noise and it sounds like it is coming from under the dash left hand side. The AIR is removed so it is not that pump. Any ideas? I've never heard that before and wanted to make sure that the car isnt going to fall apart.
Sounds like stump the chump. The BCM can do strange things whenever it decides if it is going south. Not sure that is the issue. I don't think your car is going to fall apart. Maybe associated with the fuel system evap solenoid forward of the driver in the engine compartment. That could make a noise since there is vacuum involved. Just groping on my part. If it continues try to get a good recording of it so we can listen. Next time it happens when you are stopped raise the hood to try and figure out is the sound outside or inside. This info would be really invaluable to help figure out what is going on.

this is exactly where it sounds like it is coming from.
i'll see if something is up with the evap. no codes or anything though
Looking does not work, I was asking you to raise the hood and try and listen to see if the noise is there or definitely in the dash. We need to truely establish where the noise is coming from. Noises can be very deceiving. A friend tore into his rear axle assuming it was a bad bearing. I looked at them and checked them. They were perfect. It was the right front wheel bearing.
Ok it took a few days but I think I figured it out. I believe it is the seat motor that controls the lumber features. I heard the sound again today finally and it sounded like it was coming from under me and left. Then the small adjustments for the seat are now not working. it still goes forward and back but nothing else works. That has to be it.
