My car gets a makeover. (lots of pics)
I usually post in the F/I section, but this isn't a F/I related thread. I've done just about every drivetrain and power mod anyone can do to a car and decided it was time to give my car a makeover.
Here's what I started with.
I wanted to share the journey of the transformation of my car with everyone. Hopefully you find it interesting.
I started out with another forum member who's a body man by profession, needing an Alky Control injection system installed and his car tuned and he wanted to trade me out. That didn't work out in my favor, but by the time I discovered that my end of the trade wasn't going to happen, I had already purchased a bunch of parts. I've done my share of paint and body work, but didn't care to do this job or feel like I had the time since I'm also in the middle of a F1R powered, 408 build for another forum member and have a full time job and family etc.etc. I felt like I had not choice if I wanted the car done, so I moved forward. I bought a set of flared rear fenders and chose them over the L5's since they match the lines of my Carravaggio hood better. I also wanted better airflow to the intercooler and radiator, so I purchased a Tigershark nose. Although the rear quarters look like they already match, they don't. It was a color from a Honda that I thought about trying, but it didn't sit well with me. Since I didn't want to change my forum name, I felt like I needed to stay with blue. It also happens to be my favorite color. My best friend told me about the best color he knew of and after looking at it, I had to go with it. It's a 3-stage color that was used on some Lamborghinis called Blu Monterey. Since it's a 3-stage, I've seen many variations of the color. When I got the paint, I also got some paint cards and sprayed them out with varying amounts of the mid stage blue clear. I chose from one of those cards, took my wheels to have them powdercoated to match and saved it for the painter to match as well. Since it's a color change, I had completely disassemble the car to get the car done right. The only items that aren't removable are the roof and the rockers, so they stayed. Everything else was removed. I have gotten quite far in the job so this won't be a post that takes 3 months for the money shot.
Here's the starting pics before disassembly and then through the disassembly process.
Everything's apart except the hood, which I'm employing my painter to repair and prep.
While I was sanding panels, a little scorpion walked up to see what I was doing .
Once I prepped the panels, I hung them back on the car for transport to the paint shop.

Thanks guys. I have worked on cars for many years, not excluding paint and body. Every 4 years or so, I get hungry to do another paint job on something. I'm soon reminded of why there's so much time in between the urges LOL. The motor should be capable of easily making over 1600hp after I tune it with the new F1X, so I'm certainly done modding under the hood. I'll probably keep it turned way down to save the rest of the drivetrain. For me, this was the next logical step to satisfy my urge to continuously take the car to the next level.

Bret I don't see how you find enough hours in a day to do all of the stuff you do.... The body looks very straight. I can't wait to see the finished pics.
That car is gonna look freakin ridiculous..... You just can't beat the body lines of a C5Z....The new color is gorgeous.
Really bringing a 10 year old car to the leading edge of performance and appearance.
You gonna try to dyno it again before TI?
Looks awesome bro!
