I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this thread but, I want to reprogram my key fob so it doesnt beep everytime I lock/unlock the doors or when it chirps like 5 times when I press the trunk release. Is it possible to just eliminate the chrip? I searched the forum and didn't find anything pertaining to this issue.
You didn't specify the year of your car, but in my 03 the information is on page 3-50 and 51 of the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download one for free from gmpartshouse.com
Mine doesn't chirp when I open the trunk with a remote. Sounds like you may have an aftermarket alarm.
I see you're new. Free advice. Fill out your profile so everyone will know what car (z06, coupe, convert) and the year are. You'll get more accurate answers. All body styles and years don't have the same options and features. At least specify in your question.
After looking through the key fob section in the manual I think you're right about it being an aftermarket alarm cause it doesn't look at all like the one chevy put up in the pictures.
Actually I think I might have found it. Under Options, go to Lock and Arm, and scroll through the choices. I will try it in a little bit and see how that works out
Ok that didnt work. So I will continue to try and find out which alarm system it has and go from there. Thanks for posting the link for the manual though I have already learned a few new things about my car from just skimming the pages

I'm doubting you've got an aftermarket alarm on the thing, the stock cars will chirp if the options are set to do so.
Go back through your options and look again. I don't know the exact wording and my car is not here for me to check, but it's in there. Under something like, Unlock, lights and horn, lights only, horn only, nothing... Something like that. You'll know when you see it.
Mines a 98, I may have missed it but I didn't see where you said what yours was. Does help these folks ya know...
I looked in the '01 owner's manual and found it under the Driver Information Center section for options. Look at the "Lock and Arm" section on page 2-100. I copied it below.
Lock and Arm
Press the OPTIONS button until LOCK & ARM appears on the display, then use the RESET button to page through the following selections:
LOCK & ARM - OFF
LOCK & ARM - HORN ONLY
LOCK & ARM - LIGHTS ONLY
LOCK & ARM - HORN & LIGHTS
If you choose LOCK & ARM - OFF, you will receive no security feedback when locking or unlocking your vehicle.
If you choose LOCK & ARM - HORN ONLY, only the horn will chirp to let you know when your alarm system has armed when locking your vehicle.
If you choose LOCK & ARM - LIGHTS ONLY, only your exterior lamps will flash to let you know when your alarm system has armed when locking your vehicle.
If you choose LOCK & ARM - HORN & LIGHTS, the horn will chirp and the exterior lamps will flash briefly to let you know the system has armed when locking your vehicle.
This may be what you tried, but this is how it is supposed to work.
I've never had a stock C5 that chirped 5 times when you push the trunk release on the fob with any settings. And on a C5 it's not a chirp, it's a honk. AND, he said the fob doesn't look like the pictures in the manual. All pointing to an aftermarket remote IMO.
