New to threading, I hope I'm in the part of Forum. Trying to decide on a different approach for my 2K Fixed Roof Coupe's engine bay. Anybody put the Carbon Fiber Engine Cover or Fiberglass by RK Sport rather than sanding and painting Stock FRC's. I am thinking of the single cover rather than FRC's. Trying to be a little diffrent. I am inthe process of the sand and paint route. Lucky to have 2k Z28 to put FRC's on if I go the other direction
Here is the prototype I just did for a friend local.
I ordered in some carbon letters but they were a little to big. I have new ones coming for the next one i have to make for a customer.
Price as shown will be $399.99 plus shipping for the fiberglass version painted body color with lettering in carbon fiber
red
black
gold
yellow
white
silver
The carbon fiber version of the cover will be $499.99 plus shipping
I have one to make in Lemans Blue for a customer and we are going to leave the center exposed in carbon and the lettering will be the real carbon showing through.

fresh clear over the carbon will stop this from happening.
Is it cheap manufacturing that causes this? I talked with a guy at a show who had the one-piece CF cover as well as CF fender covers and all three pieces yellowed. He told me it was due to the engine heat. His did not have the painted areas like yours, rather it was one big piece of carbon.
Do you need to reapply the clear or does a first quality coat do the trick?

I'd like to see what the LeMans Blue one looks like.
Soon
I have a vacation coming up in about 12 days and getting as many bezels as I can done before we leave. Then when I get back we will get it painted.
Cool. When the car gets back from the body shop I'll do a 'stand and stare' at the engine bay to see whether I want that look. It's an awesome looking piece regardless of whether I end up getting it or not.
