Default Anyone else...?

Anyone else drop a 5/16 wrench when tightening the battery connections? Man, am I glad the boys at GM put the computer access panel in the front wheel well. I had visions of fishing for my wrench with a magnet on a string.

Been there done that. Got a flexible magnetic wand which did the job of retrieving the dropped socket.

Yeah this one comes to mind...Gasket lifted off the oil filter and stayed with the car while new filter with gasket went on. Checked for leaks and observed an oil shower going on

I have dropped a tool down in that area before - and you're right - the access panel comes in real handy for times like that.

Mike, here's a picture

Notice the 9/32 headed fastners near the fender. These two come out, plus one of the plastic rivets (with the push button center) and three more 9/32 headed ones you can't see behind the tire.

I thought that area under there was for spare tool storage. Noisy little suckers when driving though.

Absolutely crazy I agree.

I thought I was going to have a H Attack. Started feeling weird in my arm. My mind was in slow mode (nothing new since then) and could not compute. Reason was next day we were supposed to be enroute to pick up a new car 8 hrs away that had the options we wanted.

Such a simple thing caused so much trouble. Besides, you would think 2gaskets would be better than one in spite of my mechanic skills

Hope someone learns from this WTF experience.

OP...I agree with you starting a thread with that topic. I'm sure everybody has screwed up something in their life haha Plus I got more to add to the list.

Me too. The stories are funny to tell over beers now but maybe weren't so funny at the time.

I've dropped a wrench down there a couple of times. I just pulled the battery and fished around with a telescoping magnetic pickem-up. If outta sight, you might have to pull the battery tray, too. No big deal to do so.
