Default Race mesh screens

Anyone have online instructions for installing screens for the front ducts and the side vents for the C5 ? Thanks for any help on this matter.

The Racemesh website has instructions for each set of screens. Scroll down to the C5 section...

http://www.racemeshgrilles.com/installation.htm#C5

Although I am happy with the quality of the Racemesh screens I installed, they were a PITA to install in the side coves and rear fascia. Primarily because you are attempting to install/bond two vertical surfaces. Pretty tough to do when you're fighting gravity. If you remove your fenders or rear fascia, it would be pretty easy, however I don't think most people who purchase these screens plan to do that. What I found frustrating is that my original "cheapie" screens were pre-formed with double sided tape and they lasted 7 years. I was expecting the Racemesh to be pre-formed as well, however they were not and were basically straight edged mesh that required silicone adhesive for installation.

The front fascia/brake screens are pretty easy as you just push them into the brake ducts and then pull and adjust them so that they sit inside the first crease. I suggest that you apply some blue painters tape around the painted edges to make sure you don't scratch the paint with the sharp edges of the mesh during adjustments.

The side cove screens are a little more difficult and for best results, it is recommended that you remove the wheel/tire and then remove the inside fender wheel walls. After that, I had to figure out a creative way to hold the screens in place while the silicone adhesive bonded.

Good luck!

BTW - The rear fascia screens were just as much fun to install!

Those are very good screens, but it does seem like a lot of work to install them.

For the price you would think they would be able to pre-conform them with vertical edges and use double sided tape to bond onto the surface. My old rear fascia screens were perfect. An L-lip at the top and an L-lip on the bottom. I installed them in 5 minutes! The finish wasn't nearly as nice as the Racemesh however.

As difficult as the C5 screens are, I checked out the C6 side cove installation on their website. Ugh! What a process!

I haven"t got any because I know that I don't have the patience to install them. I know that they would be flying out of my garage in no time at all!

Default screen

Did the fron brake ducts yesterday and yes they are a bit of a PITA. first one took me 1/2 hour but the second only 10 minutes once I knew I could bend and shape them a little. sure helped the install !

today I will attempt the rear screens. One question . How did you get in there to clean the bonding surfaces :woohoo

Rears are done :>) once I got the car up higher so I could get in there it was not so bad . Snug but got both side done in one hour .
Took a bunch of pics but I have no idea how to load them on the forum.

I do not have the BSMs, so......... does anyone have any ideas how to hold the side vent screens in place ? Thought maybe I could run wires back to the spokes of the back wheel . Protecting everything with towels of course ??? The wheel spokes seem to be about the same sight line ....

Use the same rubber band method I did (pics above) with the BSMs, but instead use a few heavy duty paper clips to hold the rubber bands to fender edge next to the door seam. I suggest using some blue painter's tape to prevent any scratches from the paper clips.

Good idea . I have some heavey aluminum wire I can make some hooks as I do not have heavy paper clips. should work the same though .
