Default rear inner panel

Dear Members:
I bought my C-5 used some time ago. A while back I noticed a part called "rear inner panel" in the Shop Manual was missing. It is some sort of plastic insert inside the front fender. Probably somebody forgot to re-install it after some body work. It is the drivers side.

Does anybody here think going without this may cause a problem one day?
Maybe just get some chrome inserts?

I only found one site on the internet so far that had a replacement but they had no photo avaiable to confirm that this is the part I want. I also though the $78.00 price tag was a bit high for what I believe to be only a piece of plastic.

Dear tfrankmt:

Is this the part? By the way, the whole car is a piece of plastic...

Thank you Dino:
It does appear to be so, I have not seen one outside the car and have only the sketch in the shop manual to go by.

This is the piece that goes between the fender well and the side coves.

I would think it is important considering how much debris, rain, etc. can go into the side coves. I removed and then reinstalled mine when I installed my Racemesh side cove screens.

No problem, but I'm not Dino. I'm wit2pz.
I just did a Google search for the part you mentioned and that's one of the first results that came up.

I can't say whether not having it will be a problem, but I might check the other side to see if it's installed there if I were you.

Loosen up your tie and buttons; we're a pretty friendly group over here for the most part. You'll get more help on here for things that go wrong or odd or great for your Vette than anywhere else in the world.

I just purchased a set of them from Marc at VetteNuts. Fast shipping, and a great price. Send him either a PM or an e-mail, tell him what you need and he'll shoot you a price with shipping.

Thank you. I took another subscribers advice and bought a used one from Vette Salvage for $20 plus a few other small parts for my air dam. The shipping cost I thought was a bit high and I could not tell exactly where they are located from the website but I purchased anyway.
I have not heard of Vette Nuts and will check them out for other parts.
