I just put a K&N air filter in my car 2000 c5 6 speed, is there anything that has to be done to the cars computer for the diff. in air fuel mixture. like disconect the battery so the comp. can re-learn the air flow. and what steps do I take to do this. thanks in adv. GINO

When I put my Blackwing on, I just drove the car for about 20-30 miles - the computer should adjust for the increased air flow on its own.

When I went from the stock air system on my C5Z (2003) to a CAI system I made no changes at all other then the install itself and all is fine.

Shouldn't have to since there really is little difference between the stocker and the aftermarket filters as far as air flow.

Gino,
Is it just a K&N filter (stock size repacement) or the entire K&N Cold Air Intake kit?
If just the filter swap, there shouldn't be any issues. Just be carefull not to over oil the filter. That can mess up the fine wire sensors on your MAF. If you are replacing the stock air box and snorkle with the entire K&N Cold Air Intake kit, it might throw some lean codes(but probably not). You have a screen inside your maf. The screen helps keep the airflow straight (less airflow turbulance).

I've heard that anything that changes air flow to or through the engine should get a computer reset. But I don't think a drop in filter qualifies quite enough.

The computer will compensate up to a certain point. After that "certain point", it will fire codes.
Drop in filter should not fire codes.

Not really a big difference in the filters, and the engine will/can only take in a certain amount of air no matter what. The engine computer was probably calibrated at the factory with NO filter on the engine on a dyno stand anway.
