What criteria would you set for the ultimate street car. 1/4 mile time, horse power, street manners, looks, fuel choice. Any thing else you can think of as well.
Luv a sleeper back in the day I use to have a 72 Vega with a 327/350 HP dropped in it, the faces of those dudes when my little Vega spanked their *** was priceless.
Today's technology will give them 800 hp and low 9 second e.t.'s.
Great car, but it's not one that you could drive anywhere, anytime. They're cramped, hot, and don't have a real roof. I'd love to have one for sunny Sundays or track days, though.

I think a C6 ZR1 is pretty damned close to ideal. You get ridiculous performance and a warranty.
IMO, the 100th Anniversary Grand Sport with a E-force Blower, blower cam and upgraded valve train will give you all the fun you could ever ask for in the comfort of one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen:

That's nice... I like it, all of it, those "ghost gray" stripes going across the hood/roof/rear deck are nice!!!
Man, you guys are aiming way too low. To me (and many others), the "ultimate street car" is an Underground Racing Lamborghini Gallardo. Absolutely bulletproof driveline, unmatched AWD traction and handling, suck-out-your-eyeballs braking, idles like a kitten, as drivable as a stock one, supercar interior that is still comfortable and made from fine materials, Italian design/German engineering/American modifications. These things RULE the street. Switchable programming for 93 pump, E85, and race gas. Only a dedicated drag car or turbocharged bike stands a chance, and you can drive this to and from the track and then to the grocery store with the a/c on. Now, where did I put that lottery ticket?

This x10
Since I can't afford that, I'll say my FRC. 830hp, runs on 91 octane, and I drive it 300 miles to Lake Havasu for vacations without worry.
