When I'm just cruising around town I'll start out in first gear, then shift to third, then to fifth. Or if I'm slow rolling I'll go 2-4-6. The Z06 tranny gears are so close it feels like driving an old 3 speed. Anyone else skipping gears??

I never liked the 1-4, the 1-3 seems to be much better. I'm really glad to have my cags turned off too - I always hated that.

With an 03 Z & the M/12 transmission ratio, combined with a 3:90 rear differential...it's the only way to go in slow traffic & your not in a hurry.

I like going to 1-3-5-6

Plus you get better gas mileage if that really means any thing.

I always wondered about the 3.90's or 4.10's. Seems like 1st gear would be VERY short, you could almost start out in 2nd??

Yeah, I'm always going 1-3-5 from a dead stop. Had my first experience in stop and go traffic this morning and was loving jumping around in the gearbox Everyone's always saying they'd hate to have a stick during rush hour, but I didn't mind one bit. 'Course I can always hop in my cadi if I want a more mellow commute

Don't go 2-4-6 too often though. I'd maybe go right to 5 from 2, or maybe 3, depending.. 1-3 feels pretty natural to me, but for some reason 2-4 not so much.

1st gear does ramp up pretty quick. I tried starting in 2nd from a dead stop for the first time this morning and almost stalled. Seemed like it would take some revving to get 'er to get moving.

Anyone else try starting from 2nd from a dead stop?

I have the stock differential in my 02, whatever that is on the M6s (3.73?)

Yeah I was talking about having 3.90's or 4.10's and starting out in 2nd. Seems like with those gears you would wind thru first in no time.

With my cam I use all the gears around town except 6th which is only useful now on the highway above 65 mph. In OE trim I could easily see skipping 2nd gear but my cam doesn't like to be down below 1500 rpm too much.
