Or get one of those small 100 mA solar panels at West Marine or Harbor Frt. and put it in the garage window. Trickle charges the battery with no electrical outlet.
I assume the car will be in a garage. If it is, sprinkle cayenne pepper on the floor under all areas of the car. Keeps the mice and rats from making a winter home in the engine compartment and eating the wiring.
Put out some DeCon mouse/rat bait. It works. We just tried lots of traps for our fruit rat visitor. DeCon did the trick. Lots of stuff in a Vette that the bad guys like to chew on.
Spray a non-oil based bug spray in the wheel openings and the wheels. Keeps spiders from making a home.
Don't put one of those salt based moisture absorbers inside of the car. The salt will corrode your wiring and contacts.
Consider plastic wrapping the top before it's bolted down. Keeps the stray cats from carving up the fabric just in case one gets in the garage some cold winter night. (I can see a stray cat jumping merrily up on the trunk, then to the top and quickly sliding off the slick plastic...HA!)
Do a leather treatment on the seats.
(By the way, we got our very nice pristine 2000 RED vert two months ago and I had always kept the top down in the garage. I had some bad thoughts about a rat jumping into the car and eating the leather so now the windows and top are always up, in the garage. Easy to take back down when needed).
While the removing the battery idea is a good one, frankly, I'd miss sitting in my Vette sometime during the cold winter and would want to head out into the garage, with a cold one and light up the radio, just to remember that Spring, top down, is not too far away...Bob
I have been reading where a low battery can cause problems with the systems of this car. If I disconnect it will it cause problems also? Will I have to reprogram everything?

As for the rest of the car - Sta-Bil in the gas, change oil and filter, put a little extra air pressure in the tires (I also put a piece of carpet under each tire), clean the car up and put a cover on it. If you want, put some mothballs or dryer sheets in the interior/engine bay to keep any critters away.
