I have just purchased a 2000 corvette and I have a headlight issue. The drivers side headlight does not set level with the hood area when in the off position. When I turn on the headlight the left headlight goes down before it comes up but does open up and works fine. When I turn off the headlights the left one goes down fine but then pops up about a 1/4 inch higher than it should. There is no gear noise present. I am not sure what the problem is...Can someone please help....
Yes I have tried to adjust the throw of the headlight manually, however it does not seem to correct the problem...Is there an adjustment on the actuator arm?
Are the plastic pieces still on the end of the actuator? These should give you a resting position for the lights.
This... there are nylon caps that are pressed onto the linkage near the motors. They provide the stopping points at all the way up and all the way down. These can wear through or even fall off and then the motor has a hard time knowing when to stop or will make a circle causing the door to go up, then down, then up again. In all honesty you can jerry rig something to take place of the caps.
Yup your nylon stop are worn out. You can try flippin it or use the ones from the top. Gm doesn't makes these anymore. Ecklers does but people have reported they take a crap after only a few weeks. Like it was posted above you may have to rig something up. That's what I. Had to do after using the ones from the other side.
