I'll respond now that I see you're in Anderson. I'm in Charlotte and I am going to sell my 03 Anniv Edition convertible and prepare for retirement. I'd be happy to meet up and you can drive it and see if it's what you want. That is if it doesn't sell before you decide. I haven't advertised it yet, but I've had several inquiries based on another thread with someone looking for one. Mine is showroom new looking with 19,000 miles. Automatic with the 3:15 axle, cd changer, all AE options, and other options except body side moulding. It has a Corsa stainless exhaust and a few other minor cosmetic things like trunk lid cover and stainless sill plates, but otherwise is completely stock. I have a couple of people inquiring, but you are closer, so let me know if you have any interest. I'm going to price it at $28K, so e-mail me at jackfox421@aol.com if you are interested at that price.
I am interested. I will shoot you an email next week
tprice, 65GGvert's 3:15 axle ratio is an important factor. The standard axle ratio is 2:73, which is a little tame. The 3:15 axle ratio was an option and is much more desirable (IMHO).
Don't get in a big hurry and jump into the first Vette you see. I'm 65 and I've had my Vette for only 2 yrs but I searched for a looooong time before I found it practically in my own front yard. Research and any question you have can be answered in these forums.
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

+1 for the 'vert and if you can find a Speedway White with a white top buy it, one of the rarest made color combo in '03, only 218 made (I believe) and of those probably 50 came with a 300 km/h - mph speedo.
I choose the vert. With the top up it looks good. Need a new look, put it down and get a fresh new look. I am 55 and those weekend drives back into W. Va. on a nice day with the top down and the changing colors of the trees and in a league of it's own. My wife at first wanted a coupe . She didn't think a vert was safe. You don't get beat to death by the wind and it is a pleasure to drive. Now she loves it.
We absolutely love our 2000 TORCH RED vert. The top is simple and quick to put up or down and we solved the booming noise from the trunk into the cockpit with an ExoticVettes partition. Simple to install.
Also went with non run-flat tires (V-12's). Made a tremendous difference especially when the top is up.
It's an auto, which I also like. Have no need at my age (64 and my first Vette!!!) for a "hard on the old knees" six-speed. I can manually shift it and typically run her in third gear on smaller roads, just for the nice sound and a bit more control in case I need to dodge something.
Keep away from a mod'ed car as your first. Maybe an exhaust or intake but there is plenty of power and sounds for you to enjoy without being concerned about how some gizmo was installed. Our 2000 is bone-stock and we are keeping her that way. (The stock exhaust sounds great, no need for a "performance", louder tone).
We run the vert with the top up sometimes on a hot FL day but the top is down on the way back. Great for early morning/late evening runs along the Gulf. Can't get the same effect with a removable hatch.
Be sure to do a search on the Board about first-time buyers. Tons of great info. Get one from the original owner if you can. No short time owners. Ours was won on Ebay from the original lady owner three months ago, 44K miles/$17,350...Bob
I have an 04 vert and love it it's stock except for a tune , very quiet and comfetable, the only issues with the 50th is all the prices are out of wack they are too pricey, Ron

And well worth the extra money, IMO. Reliability wise, the later C5s are probably about the same, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better interior/exterior color combination than the 50th AE.
Unless you come across something else that lifts your skirt, stick with it. There's one out there for you.
